Southland Renews Crittenden County Promise Scholarship Commitment at ASU Mid-South

WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. —Southland Casino Hotel has renewed its commitment to the Crittenden County Promise Scholarship for a third year. As one of only nine promise programs in Arkansas, the Crittenden County Promise Scholarship is available exclusively through ASU Mid-South. The scholarship supports first-time entering students from Crittenden County and eligible Hughes students pursuing an associate degree at ASU Mid-South.

The scholarship is a stackable, last-dollar award that covers remaining tuition costs after other financial aid and scholarships have been applied. It does not cover books or course fees. To qualify, applicants must meet the program’s eligibility requirements, including a minimum high school GPA of 2.75 or a GED score of 550, apply for admission to ASU Mid-South and complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the institutional scholarship application.

Eligible students must also apply for admission to ASU Mid-South, complete the scholarship application and submit the 2026-27 FAFSA. Students who receive the scholarship may continue receiving tuition assistance throughout their enrollment, provided they maintain the program’s eligibility requirements. To remain eligible for the scholarship, students must:

  • Successfully complete an individualized student success plan each semester.
  • Maintain a 2.75 GPA in all coursework.
  • Complete the FAFSA each year.
  • Complete the ASU Mid-South Scholarship Application each year
  • Be a Crittenden County resident or a Hughes resident who graduated from a West Memphis high school.

“Southland has been a longtime advocate for education in our community and a great partner to us at ASU Mid-South,” said Dr. Debra West, chancellor of ASU Mid-South. “Through these scholarships, more Crittenden County residents can see higher education as a viable and affordable option for themselves and for their children.”

“Southland Casino Hotel is proud to continue its partnership with ASU Mid-South through the Crittenden County Promise Scholarship,” said Osi Imomoh, president and general manager of Southland Casino Hotel. “We remain committed to supporting educational opportunities that help Crittenden County residents pursue college and build stronger futures for themselves and their families.”

Applications will be accepted until Aug. 1 as funding allows. Students who have questions about scholarship eligibility, program requirements, or the application process are encouraged to contact CrittendenCountyPromise@asumidsouth.edu for assistance.
