Strategic Communications & Economic Development
The Office of Strategic Communications & Economic Development, led by Vice President Jeff Hankins, oversees communications and economic development for the ASU System.
Key responsibilities include:
- Creating and executing a statewide communications and engagement strategy.
- Managing media relations, analysis, and guidance for the President, System, and Board of Trustees.
- Handling legislative and media inquiries and Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests.
- Producing strategic documents, issue papers, and public communications to shape perceptions of higher education.
- Leading a systemwide communications strategy across digital, social, and traditional media.
- Fostering economic development through partnerships with business, industry, and statewide organizations.
- Supporting campus-specific development efforts and external relations with key constituencies.
- Expanding the ASU System’s brand and engagement through public speaking and statewide outreach.
