Arkansas State University Mid-South in West Memphis is a public two-year community college that serves Crittenden County and the Mid-South with purpose. The college focuses on opening doors, expanding skills and helping students move toward stronger careers and brighter futures.

ASU Mid-South offers clear pathways through associate degrees, technical certificates and certificates of proficiency, along with licensures and certifications, adult education, literacy and ESL. Every program is built to move students forward.

The campus delivers workforce and professional training and works with public schools, businesses and colleges and universities across the region to support seamless coursework, transfer and upper-division and graduate opportunities.

Aviation Maintenance Technology

Aircraft mechanics and technicians are in high demand, and you can join their ranks in as little as two years. Through ASU Mid-South’s FAA-certified Aviation Maintenance Technology program, you’ll gain the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to earn your Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) licenses and begin a dynamic, well-paying career. Learn to maintain and repair everything from small private aircraft to commercial jets while studying aircraft systems, hydraulics, flight controls, and engine teardown and testing. Graduates are prepared not only for aviation maintenance but also for roles in safety management, training and technical operations. With projected earnings exceeding $100,000 annually, this program is your runway to a rewarding future.

Welding

ASU Mid-South’s Welding Technology program prepares you to craft, join and shape metal in construction, manufacturing and transportation projects. Learn industry-recognized techniques including arc, MIG, TIG and flux-core welding, plasma cutting and fabrication. Training follows American Welding Society (AWS) standards and prepares you for AWS certification and real-world success. Students can earn certificates in multiple welding processes. Classes are offered day and night to fit a variety of schedules. Skilled welders earn competitive pay and find career opportunities across a range of industries.

Emergency Medical Technician

EMTs play a critical role in saving lives every day. Through ASU Mid-South’s EMT program, you’ll gain the knowledge and hands-on experience to respond quickly, make sound decisions and provide vital care when it matters most. Learn to assess patients, manage airways, perform CPR, immobilize fractures and safely transport patients to medical facilities. Training follows the latest National Emergency Medical Services Education Standards and emphasizes best practices in emergency response. In just one semester, you can earn a Certificate of Proficiency and qualify to take the National Registry Exam. After passing, you’ll be eligible for Arkansas EMT certification, preparing you for a career with ambulance services, fire departments, law enforcement, hospitals, clinics and industry.

Information Systems Technology

Careers in information systems are growing fast. Through ASU Mid-South’s Information Systems Technology program, you’ll gain hands-on training and current skills that prepare you for in-demand roles in computer support or networking. Learn to analyze, configure and manage networks, troubleshoot computer systems, and maintain multi-platform environments. Training follows industry standards and prepares you for certifications recognized worldwide, including Cisco Networking Systems credentials. Students can focus on Networking Design and Administration or Micro-Computer Upgrade and Repair. Classes are offered to fit a variety of schedules. Graduates gain practical skills that employers value and open doors to careers in IT support, networking, systems administration and cybersecurity.
