The Arkansas State University System provides Long-Term Disability (LTD) insurance to all benefits-eligible employees — at no cost to you. This important benefit helps protect your income if you become unable to work for an extended period due to a qualifying illness or injury.

Plan Administration

  • Premium Cost: Paid 100% by ASU
  • Administered by:
    • Centennial Insurance – Claims submission
    • UNUM – Claims payment

Plan Features

  • Eligibility: Coverage begins on the first of the month following 90 days of employment
  • Benefit Amount: 60% of your salary, up to a maximum of $6,000 per month
  • Elimination Period: Benefits begin after a 180-day waiting period (the time you must be continuously disabled before payments start)
  • Pre-Existing Condition Clause: Applies for two years from your coverage start date
