Accidental Death Insurance
Extra Protection for Life’s Unexpected Events
The Arkansas State University System offers employees the opportunity to purchase Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance through UNUM. This coverage provides financial protection for you and your family in the event of a serious accident, resulting in injury, loss of limb, or death.
What AD&D Insurance Covers
AD&D insurance pays a benefit amount if you suffer an accidental death or certain types of serious injuries due to a covered accident, such as:
- Loss of life
- Loss of limb, eyesight, speech, or hearing
- Paralysis or other qualifying injuries
The benefit is paid in addition to any life insurance you may have — offering added peace of mind for you and your loved ones.
Coverage Options
- Employee Coverage:
- Purchase in increments of $25,000
- Maximum benefit of five times your annual salary or $250,000, whichever is less
- Family Coverage:
If you elect family coverage:- Spouse: Covered at 50% of your elected amount
- Children: Covered at 10% of your elected amount (up to age 19, or age 23 if a full-time student)
Important Notes
- Coverage is provided by UNUM
